The Bernabéu Market, a new 3,000-square-meter gourmet space located inside the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, has officially opened its doors and features an artisanal churro shop, Chocolatería 1902. The establishment gained visibility last year through an Adidas promotional campaign that linked its brand to Real Madrid and the club’s founding year, 1902. Since then, Chocolatería 1902 has become a natural fit within the stadium environment, according to co-owner Juan Gorrochategui in a statement to Efe.

Juan and Héctor Gorrochategui represent the fifth generation of this historic family business, originally based on San Martín Street in central Madrid. They produce their own chocolate at a factory in Getafe and expect to exceed 100,000 kilos in sales this year. Their chocolate, crafted using an early 20th-century stone mill brought from Milan and later restored, is supplied to several of Madrid’s top hotels.

The brothers once wore Real Madrid’s third kit for an Instagram photoshoot, a moment that sparked their collaboration with the club’s Foundation. Their products passed the club’s strict quality controls, even earning the approval of Éder Militão and his family, who visited one of their shops in Madrid.

In addition, visiting directors and families from major German clubs, including Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, often added Chocolatería 1902 to their sightseeing plans when traveling to Spain for Champions League matches. Their commitment to craftsmanship and to offering personalized chocolate and churro combinations, now available in gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free, and vegan versions, made the move to the Bernabéu Market a natural next step.

The new space offers three iconic Madrid products with the “Made in Spain” seal: Casa Dani’s famous potato omelet, Joselito ham, and the traditional chocolate with churros. These items form part of the culinary vision developed by the Galician group Amicalia through its subsidiary Restanima, which operates the project under a ten-year concession from Real Madrid and an initial investment of eight million euros.

The food district features twenty brands, is accessed through Plaza de Sagrados Corazones, and is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to midnight. “We close to the general public two hours before each match to serve the VIP guests attending the stadium,” Juan Gorrochategui noted.
