According to Marca, the referee's report following Real Madrid's match against Villarreal could put Vinicius Jr.'s availability for the upcoming Clásico against Barcelona at risk. Díaz de Mera detailed the incident that led to the Brazilian's dismissal, as well as his reaction after being shown the red card.
The referee described the action that resulted in Vinicius' expulsion as follows: "For pulling an opponent's hair, with the ball in play, when the ball was not in dispute between them ." This wording has raised concerns that the Real Madrid forward could receive a suspension that would rule him out of the meeting with Barcelona, creating another potential setback for José Mourinho's side.
Díaz de Mera also stated that Vinicius "had to be restrained by his teammates," but added that he could not "observe any specific expression ." According to the report, this detail could prove significant when the disciplinary authorities determine the length of the suspension, as the referee did not record any specific insult or verbal offence that could lead to a more severe punishment.
