The contract renewal talks between Vinicius Júnior and Real Madrid have reached a decisive stage, with Mario Cortegana revealing the main obstacle preventing an agreement.

According to the journalist, the club remains unwilling to accept the renewal bonus requested by the Brazilian's representatives. Real Madrid believes agreeing to such a demand would create a dangerous precedent, encouraging other players to seek similar bonuses when negotiating future contract extensions. For that reason, the board has maintained a firm position despite Vinicius' importance to the team.

The club has reportedly followed the same policy with some of its greatest legends. Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos were both denied similar demands during their respective negotiations, with Florentino Pérez refusing to compromise on the club's salary structure and contractual principles.

Beyond the signing bonus, image rights also remain a major point of contention. Vinicius' camp is reportedly seeking a larger share of the commercial revenue generated from his image, while Real Madrid has no intention of making significant concessions in that area either.

Cortegana adds that the final decision will rest with Florentino Pérez. Alongside Juni Calafat, the Real Madrid president has been one of Vinicius' strongest supporters since bringing him to the club in 2018 and continues to enjoy an excellent relationship with the Brazilian.

Despite the ongoing differences, there is still optimism at Valdebebas that a compromise can be reached. José Mourinho considers Vinicius a cornerstone of his project, and the club remains committed to keeping one of its biggest stars.
