Real Madrid has officially completed the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold, marking a major addition to their squad ahead of the 2025-26 season. The English right-back arrives as a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired, signing a long-term deal that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2031.
While the agreement was initially reached without a transfer fee, Real Madrid entered negotiations with Liverpool to facilitate Alexander-Arnold’s early release, allowing him to travel with the squad to the United States for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. A minor payment was made to the English club to make this possible, though the overall transfer is considered a free signing.
Born in Liverpool in 1998, Alexander-Arnold has spent his entire career at the Merseyside club, where he rose through the youth ranks and became one of the Premier League’s most dynamic full-backs. His move to Madrid comes as the club looks to strengthen the right-back position, which is considered a strategic priority for the coming seasons.
The English international will officially become a Real Madrid player starting Sunday, June 1, as per the FIFA transfer window regulations.
