Jonathan Tah and Kylian Mbappé were involved in one of the most controversial and physical moments of the clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich (1-2).

The German defender attempted to stop Mbappé’s run down the right flank with a forceful challenge. While it appeared he aimed to bring him down with his upper body, his boot made contact with the striker’s leg, tearing both his sock and stocking. The visible damage highlighted the intensity of the tackle, which ultimately resulted in only a yellow card.

Despite the heavy impact, Mbappé escaped with minor injuries, but the incident quickly sparked debate.

Speaking after the match, Álvaro Arbeloa questioned the referee’s decisions, especially in comparison to Aurélien Tchouaméni’s booking: “I don’t know what the referee saw… but I also don’t know what he saw in that play that didn’t warrant a red card for the tackle on Mbappé.”

The moment has added further controversy to a match already marked by key decisions, with Madrid feeling hard done by ahead of the decisive second leg.
