Sergio Martínez Montero is set to become a Real Madrid player until 2030. The 19-year-old Racing Santander midfielder has attracted the attention of several of Spain's top clubs since making his debut last season, when the Cantabrian side were still playing in the Second Division.

Despite having the opportunity to leave during the winter transfer window, Sergio Martínez chose to remain at Racing and continue his development. That decision paid off as he helped the club secure their long-awaited promotion to La Liga.

Now, everything points towards a move to Real Madrid. The Spanish midfielder is expected to initially join Castilla, while also having opportunities to take part in first-team training sessions.

The most difficult decision for the player has reportedly been giving up the chance to continue playing in the First Division, just weeks after making his La Liga debut and scoring a spectacular goal.

As has happened in previous operations, Real Madrid have reportedly preferred not to simply trigger the player's €3 million release clause. Instead, the club have sought an agreement with Racing Santander, avoiding potential tensions in negotiations that have been under consideration at Valdebebas for some time.
