The Santiago Bernabéu has been named the Best Stadium in the World for 2024 by the World Football Summit (WFS), the leading global platform for the football industry. The award will be presented at a gala on 18 September in Seville, celebrating the stadium's innovative features and its "ambitious vision of redefining not only the sports stadium landscape but also the cultural and economic fabric of Madrid."
The recognition underscores the "unique innovation" brought by Real Madrid, particularly in areas such as the state-of-the-art retractable pitch with an underground greenhouse, the 360-degree video scoreboard that spans the stadium's interior, and the digital skin that turns the exterior into a dynamic urban feature. The Bernabéu's adaptability to Madrid's cultural and tourism sectors was also noted, having hosted concerts by top international artists like Taylor Swift, Karol G, and Luis Miguel.
Jan Alessie, co-founder of the World Football Summit, said: "The Santiago Bernabéu is not just a stadium; it is a showcase for the future of sports and entertainment venues.
