The Negreira case continues to dominate headlines and keep Spanish football on edge. Since the investigation phase began, new details have gradually emerged, but each revelation appears to further complicate FC Barcelona’s position. The club is accused of benefiting from refereeing decisions over more than two decades in LaLiga, a situation that inevitably affects Real Madrid as their main domestic rival.

This Monday brought a significant new development directly involving FC Barcelona’s current president, Joan Laporta. Former club president Sandro Rosell testified and revealed information that points directly toward Laporta. “I met Mr. Negreira in 2003 when we joined Mr. Laporta’s first board. Someone introduced me to Mr. Negreira as the person who had historically provided refereeing advice to the club,” Rosell stated.

Rosell went on to explain his experience with Enríquez Negreira between 2003 and 2005, saying he saw him at the stadium on several occasions preparing reports and advising the club on refereeing matters. He added that Negreira did not always attend matches in person, noting that providing refereeing analysis from television allowed for clearer review of replays and more precise reports.

The former Barça president also clarified that after resigning in 2005, he did not see Negreira again until 2010. Regarding the contracts in place when Laporta first took office, Rosell explained: “When we won the elections, we inherited this contract along with around 100 others.”
