Rodri has not ruled out the possibility of playing for Real Madrid in the future, even though he previously represented Atlético Madrid.
The midfielder, currently a key player for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, addressed the topic during an interview on the program Radioestadio Noche on Onda Cero.
Speaking openly about the possibility, Rodri said: "Having played for Atlético de Madrid doesn't prevent me from playing for Real Madrid; there are other players who have gone that way. Not directly, but eventually. You can't turn down the best clubs in the world."
The Spanish midfielder also admitted that returning to his home country is something he would welcome in the future. "Would I like to play in Spain again, and in LaLiga in Madrid? I would like to return, yes. Obviously," he said.
When asked whether he had heard that Real Madrid’s leadership appreciates him as a player, Rodri responded cautiously: "Have I ever heard that the president and the general manager of Real Madrid like Rodrigo Hernández? I don't know... besides, they don't talk to me. They talk to my agent."
The midfielder also confirmed that his current contract situation could eventually lead to discussions about his future. "I have one year left on my contract, there will come a point where we will have to sit down and talk," he explained.
