Enrique Riquelme addressed supporters after the official results of the Real Madrid presidential election were announced, insisting that his campaign will continue despite defeat at the polls.
The candidate began by congratulating Florentino Pérez on his victory and highlighting what he believes was a positive outcome for Real Madrid members.
"Congratulations to Florentino Pérez's candidacy, because he has achieved victory tonight. I want to thank him because now all the Real Madrid members who have listened know the importance of voting after 20 years."
Riquelme described his campaign as a success despite the result and vowed to remain involved in the club's future.
"This is also a great victory for this candidacy, which in such a short time has been able to present a serious, professional, and inspiring candidacy, as we promised. This is not the end for us, it's the beginning. Real Madrid will not go another 20 years without elections."
He also reiterated his opposition to any proposal involving the sale of the club and defended the importance of member ownership.
"They know our main red line, our opposition to the sale of the club; they have heard it and have spoken very clearly. We know that Real Madrid is not for sale, and Real Madrid and its members have been able to speak and have also demonstrated this at the ballot box."
Riquelme concluded by stressing the need to keep members at the center of the club's future and expressed his belief that regular electoral participation will remain an important part of Real Madrid's institutional life.
"We've stopped the sale of the club, but we must continue to put the members at the heart of everything. It's a great victory for us too, because we're going to move forward, not only because the sale has been stopped, but also with new projects. Real Madrid fans and members should know that they will continue to be able to go to the polls at least every four years to vote, as they have decided today."
