Real Madrid have secured a buy-back option as part of the three-way agreement involving Osasuna, Newcastle and Víctor Muñoz, a deal that is reportedly close to being completed.
The club did not stand in the way of the transfer, largely because neither the buy-back clause nor the right of first refusal was activated before the player and Osasuna moved forward with the operation. However, Real Madrid negotiated a mechanism that would allow them to bring the winger back if his development continues as expected.
According to the report, the club wanted to maintain some control over the player's future in case he makes a significant breakthrough in the Premier League.
For Víctor Muñoz, regular playing time was the main factor when evaluating his next destination. After Real Madrid allowed the player and his agent, Juanma López, to decide his future, Newcastle quickly emerged as the preferred option.
Several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool, are said to have shown interest in the player. However, the opportunity to join Newcastle was reportedly the most attractive project for the young Spaniard.
With the move nearing completion, Real Madrid will continue to monitor Muñoz's progress closely, knowing they retain the option to bring him back if he fulfills his potential in England.
