Real Madrid are negotiating the sale of Jacobo Ortega, with the academy once again playing a key role in generating significant revenue during this summer’s transfer window.

According to Rodra, Ortega is close to joining Strasbourg in a deal worth around €10 million. If completed, the transfer would make him Real Madrid’s most expensive sale involving a player who never made a first-team appearance.

The striker is seeking his first experience at the highest level after failing to secure a place in José Mourinho’s squad, leading him to consider a move away from the club.

Real Madrid could, however, follow the same strategy used with other academy graduates by including buy-back clauses in the agreement. This would allow the club to retain an option to bring Ortega back should he develop into a top-level player.
