Real Madrid's Board of Directors, chaired by Florentino Pérez, has approved the appointment of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV as an honorary member of the club, the highest distinction awarded by Real Madrid.
The decision was taken during the Board meeting held on Thursday, June 11.
Through this recognition, Real Madrid expressed its admiration for a global figure who represents billions of people and promotes values such as peace, solidarity and justice around the world.
The club also highlighted Pope Leo XIV's visit to the Santiago Bernabéu on June 8, 2026, describing it as an honor and one of the most memorable moments in Real Madrid's history.
