Real Madrid has officially taken the first concrete step toward signing Rodri Hernández. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish club has now made initial contact with Manchester City, marking the beginning of negotiations between the two sides.

The transfer expert revealed that discussions are already underway, with verbal talks having started between the clubs as Real Madrid explores the conditions of a potential deal.

One of the biggest obstacles had been securing Florentino Pérez's approval to pursue the midfielder. Romano reports that the Real Madrid president has now given the green light after previously ruling out the operation for months, allowing the club to move forward with its pursuit.

Rodri's contract situation is also playing a key role. The Spain international has reportedly refused to renew his deal with Manchester City and remains determined to complete a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, where he has long dreamed of playing.

According to Romano, the transfer fee is not expected to become a major stumbling block. Real Madrid is prepared to invest more than €50 million, with optimism growing that an agreement can be reached if negotiations continue progressing positively.
