Real Madrid have officially booked their place in the Champions League quarterfinals after eliminating Manchester City in dominant fashion.
Los Blancos completed the job in style, following up their commanding win at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium with another victory at the Etihad Stadium.
The match turned early in Madrid’s favor when Vinícius Júnior converted a penalty in the 22nd minute, a moment that also led to the sending-off of Bernardo Silva. Just before halftime, Erling Haaland equalized for City.
However, in stoppage time, Vinícius—named MVP—struck again to complete his brace after a brilliant assist from Aurélien Tchouaméni, sealing qualification.
Real Madrid will now face the winner of the tie between Bayern Munich and Atalanta in the quarterfinals, with the first leg set to be played at home and the return leg away.
