Real Madrid took part in a heartfelt tribute organized by Real Oviedo to honor Santi Cazorla, just weeks before the Asturian club’s return to La Liga following a heroic promotion campaign. It was a moment to celebrate one of Spanish football’s most beloved figures of the last fifteen years.

Representing Los Blancos was club legend Emilio Butragueño, who personally handed Cazorla a gift full of symbolism and respect: a miniature model of the new Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, accompanied by a commemorative plaque featuring the Real Madrid crest, Cazorla’s name, and the date of the tribute.

“Thank you so much for the thoughtful gesture and for coming to the centenary and my tribute,” Cazorla shared on Instagram. “It’s a pleasure to see a legend like Emilio Butragueño.”

The event was also attended by several former teammates and friends, including Marcos Senna, his longtime companion at Villarreal and in the Spanish national team, and Xavi Hernández, who coached Cazorla in Qatar after their shared years with La Roja.

The tribute highlighted not only Cazorla’s storied career but also the deep admiration and affection he continues to inspire across the football world, even among rivals.
