Real Madrid continue to consider signing a midfielder for the future, with Martín Zubimendi emerging as one of their main targets.
The Spaniard is reportedly going through a difficult spell at Arsenal after losing his place in the starting XI and struggling for regular minutes. He has started just once, at right-back in the Cup, with Mikel Arteta seemingly not relying on him as a regular option this season.
According to Javi Roldán, Real Madrid have decided to pursue Zubimendi during the January transfer window. José Mourinho has identified a need for greater control in midfield and reportedly sees the former Real Sociedad player as someone who could provide greater stability at the base of the team.
A move for Zubimendi could therefore be considered as early as January, particularly after strengthening the midfield was already one of Real Madrid's priorities during the summer transfer window.
However, the club will continue monitoring the market and assessing potential solutions. Real Madrid are traditionally reluctant to make major additions during the winter window, meaning the decision could ultimately be postponed until the summer.
