Real Madrid has confirmed another fixture in its preparations for the 2026-27 season. José Mourinho's side will face Schalke 04 in a preseason friendly on Sunday, August 16, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 PM.
The match will be played at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The stadium, which holds more than 62,000 spectators, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Real Madrid has fond memories of its previous visits to the Veltins-Arena. The club has played two official matches there against Schalke 04, both in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
The first came in February 2014, when Los Blancos produced a memorable 6-1 away victory. One year later, the teams met again at the same stage of the competition, with Real Madrid claiming another win, this time 2-0.
The upcoming friendly will give Mourinho another valuable opportunity to fine-tune his squad ahead of the start of the new campaign.
