Raúl Asencio has become the first Real Madrid player to suffer an injury during the preseason with José Mourinho in charge of the club.
Real Madrid confirmed in an official medical statement that the academy graduate has sustained a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right leg, with his recovery to be monitored over the coming weeks.
Although the club has not provided an official recovery timeline, Asencio is expected to be sidelined for between four and six weeks. The injury is not considered serious, but it will rule the defender out for the remainder of preseason and the opening weeks of the 2026-27 La Liga campaign.
While the setback is unlikely to have a major impact on his long-term future, it comes at an unfortunate time as Asencio looked to impress Mourinho ahead of the new season.
