Real Madrid has already shifted its attention to its next major transfer target. After an eventful week that saw the arrival of Carlos Espí and the expected signing of Yan Diomandé, whose announcement is still pending, the club is now fully focused on completing the signing of Rodri.
Following weeks of internal discussions, Real Madrid has decided to move forward with the operation. While personal terms with the Spanish midfielder are reportedly not expected to be an issue, the biggest challenge remains reaching an agreement with Manchester City over the transfer fee.
According to Graeme Bailey, Real Madrid is confident the deal can be completed for around €50 million. Manchester City, however, is reportedly holding out for a fee closer to €60 million.
The report adds that Real Madrid's opening offer is already close to its valuation. Although City has rejected the initial approach, there is growing optimism in Madrid that Rodri's determination to join the club will eventually persuade the Premier League club to lower their demands and allow the transfer to go through.
