Bernardo Silva is officially a Real Madrid player. The club has announced the signing of the Portuguese midfielder, who has agreed a contract until 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.
The Portugal international, currently representing his country at the World Cup, joins Marc Cucurella among the club's confirmed summer additions, while Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konaté are still awaiting official announcements.
Negotiations between Bernardo Silva and Real Madrid were already at an advanced stage by June 11, and the deal has now been finalized. The midfielder arrives on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City, where he established himself as one of Pep Guardiola's most influential players after joining the club in 2017.
According to the report, Silva was a priority target for José Mourinho. His name featured prominently during discussions between José Ángel Sánchez, Juni Calafat, Jorge Mendes and the Portuguese coach during Mourinho's recent visit to Madrid, where plans for the upcoming season were discussed.
Real Madrid believe Bernardo Silva can make an immediate impact. At 31, the experienced midfielder brings creativity, technical quality and leadership to a midfield that the club is looking to refresh after a challenging campaign.
