Real Madrid has secured a place in the Copa del Rey final, where they will battle for the title on April 26 at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville against either Barcelona or Atlético Madrid.
The semi-final clash was a rollercoaster of emotions, culminating in a breathtaking extra-time finish. Barrenetxea opened the scoring for Real Sociedad in the 16th minute, but Endrick equalized in the 30th, capitalizing on a stunning outside-of-the-foot assist from Vinícius Jr.
The second half took a dramatic turn when David Alaba scored two own goals, putting Real Sociedad 3-1 ahead by the 80th minute. However, as they’ve done so many times before, Los Blancos produced a stunning late comeback. Within just four minutes (82nd to 86th minute), Jude Bellingham—again assisted by Vini Jr.—and Aurélien Tchouaméni brought Madrid level at 3-3.
Just when it seemed the game was over, Oyarzabal scored in the 93rd minute, forcing extra time. But Real Madrid wasn’t finished. In the 115th minute, Antonio Rüdiger rose highest to head home a corner delivered by Arda Güler, sealing a 4-3 victory and punching Madrid’s ticket to the Copa del Rey final.
