No player wants to leave Real Madrid

August is here, and the return to work for Xabi Alonso and his squad is just around the corner. With preseason preparations about to begin, it's time to revisit conversations held during the Club World Cup and the days that followed in Palm Springs, when roles and expectations were discussed clearly between the coach and his players.

Yet, despite those private talks and the lineups deployed in the FIFA tournament, not a single Real Madrid player, or their agents, has stepped foot into Valdebebas to request a transfer or express a desire to leave. Not one.

Social media might be full of cryptic posts and fan speculation, especially around players like Rodrygo, but when it comes to formal conversations with the club’s management, the reality is simple: no one has made a move. Just like in years past, no one wants to leave Real Madrid.

And why would they?

On a personal level, on a sporting level, and especially on a financial level, staying at Real Madrid makes perfect sense. Based on last season’s performance, each player is set to earn close to €850,000 gross in bonuses, a figure most clubs around the world can’t match, even without winning a major title. That’s an incentive few would walk away from.

The rumor mill has been active, phantom offers have circulated, especially concerning Rodrygo, but once again, August has arrived, and there’s been no real movement. What’s more, this time, every player already knows exactly what role they’ll have under Xabi Alonso. That clarity, however, hasn’t led to any departure requests either.

There’s still a month left until the transfer window closes, and while in recent seasons Real Madrid have usually entered August with their squad locked in, this summer could still bring surprises. But so far, there’s been complete silence. No player has asked to leave, no formal offers have come in, and none of the rumored clubs, Betis, Tottenham, or others, have reached out to the Valdebebas offices.

Real Madrid, as always, prefers to wait until players return to training to gauge their mindset after the break. But right now, all signs point to one thing: nobody’s knocking on the door to leave.
