Despite the lack of progress in negotiations with the EuroLeague, the NBA Europe project is moving forward, with a major meeting scheduled for Tuesday in London.

According to Mark Kleinman of Sky News, representatives from five major European football clubs, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, will meet with NBA Europe executives to discuss the proposed competition.

The clubs' executives will be in London for the Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday evening. However, it remains unclear whether Tuesday's meeting will take place in person or remotely.

The discussions come as the NBA looks to finalize the sale of 12 franchises for its proposed European league. These teams would join four additional clubs that could qualify for entry under specific criteria.

Kleinman reports that potential investors are prepared to pay as much as $1 billion for a London-based franchise, while other teams could attract investments worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Negotiations have reportedly been ongoing for more than six months.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich are all currently competing in the EuroLeague. Representatives from the three clubs attended a recent meeting in Como, Italy, where they agreed to work toward converting their 10-year licenses into permanent franchises while continuing discussions about the addition of new teams.

The EuroLeague recently rejected the NBA's proposal for potential collaboration during a meeting of stakeholders in Lake Como. According to Kleinman, the sale of NBA Europe franchises is unlikely to move forward until the situation with the EuroLeague is resolved.

Tuesday's meeting in London, which will involve three clubs currently competing in the EuroLeague, could help advance discussions between the two sides. The NBA remains committed to launching its new European competition in 2027.
