José Mourinho has expressed his pride at Rafa Nadal's decision to join Real Madrid's Board of Directors, delivering a heartfelt message when asked about the tennis legend's new role at the club.
The Portuguese coach praised Nadal's connection with Real Madrid and highlighted what his arrival means to the club.
“Hats off to Real Madrid and the great Rafa Nadal. He loves it, he’s a huge Madridista, and obviously, to be part of the Real Madrid Board of Directors, he has to be a huge Madridista. Beyond that, Rafa Nadal is Rafa Nadal. As Real Madrid’s coach, I feel incredibly proud to have Rafa Nadal with us. Madridistas will feel exactly the same way. The only thing I hope, half-jokingly, is that fans of other clubs who love Rafa Nadal don’t stop loving him just because he’s going to wear the Madrid shirt.”
Mourinho's words underline the significance of Nadal's arrival, with the coach making clear how proud he is to have one of Spain's greatest sporting figures associated with Real Madrid.
