Pedja Mijatovic, a Real Madrid player from 1996 to 1999 and the club's director of football from 2006 to 2009, has warned Kylian Mbappé about his off-field conduct during an appearance on El Larguero.
Mijatovic believes Real Madrid players need to be particularly careful about their public image given the team's current situation.
"right now all Real Madrid players have to be very careful with their public image, because people are sensitive. You haven't won a title in two years and this year you've started with a lot of doubts. You have to be mindful of everything you convey outside the training ground."
He also addressed Mbappé's recent controversies, stressing that the Frenchman should be more cautious while acknowledging that he is still young.
"That could have been handled much better in Mbappé's case. We have to understand that he's a young guy and he needs to enjoy his days off, but it's worth being more careful," he pointed out.
Mijatovic also discussed the video of Mbappé riding a bicycle, which attracted attention following José Mourinho's comments about the activity.
"I don't understand it either, because cycling is a normal thing, many footballers use it as preparation."
"I don't think he did it on purpose because of Mourinho's words, because I know he has a very good relationship with him," he added.
