Franco Mastantuono's next destination has been confirmed. Fabrizio Romano has announced that the Argentine midfielder will join Fiorentina on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
The agreement does not include a purchase option, meaning Mastantuono is expected to return to the Santiago Bernabéu in the summer of 2027.
After impressing at River Plate, the youngster has struggled to establish himself since arriving in Madrid. With fierce competition for places under José Mourinho, the club believes a loan move is the best option for his development.
A season in Serie A will give Mastantuono the opportunity to play regular first-team football in one of Europe's top leagues and continue adapting to the demands of European football. Earlier reports had linked him with a return to Argentina, but Real Madrid always preferred a loan within Europe to accelerate his progress.
The move also helps ease competition in Real Madrid's attacking department. The club hopes Mastantuono can follow a similar development path to other young players who benefited from loan spells before returning with greater experience and confidence.
For both the player and Real Madrid, the loan to Fiorentina is viewed as an important step in his long-term development.
