In recent weeks, Marc Guéhi’s name has emerged as a serious option to strengthen Real Madrid’s defense. The club is actively scanning the market for a new center-back, anticipating the possible departures of David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger at the end of the season. Both players’ contracts expire this summer, and no talks are currently underway to renew them.

Initially, Ibrahima Konaté appeared to be the leading candidate, followed by Dayot Upamecano. Now, Marc Guéhi of Crystal Palace has joined that shortlist. Interestingly, all three defenders share a common situation — their contracts run out on June 30, making them available as free agents, a scenario that Real Madrid is keen to take advantage of.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, both Liverpool —who were close to signing Guéhi last summer— and Barcelona have already made concrete approaches to secure the Englishman’s signature. Bayern Munich could also enter the race, depending on the future of Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.

Despite these offers, reports indicate that Guéhi is prepared to wait for Real Madrid. His clear priority is to wear the white shirt and play at the Santiago Bernabéu. Only if Madrid ultimately decides not to pursue him will the England international begin to assess alternative destinations.
