Enrique Riquelme's presidential campaign has identified Jürgen Klopp as its preferred candidate to become Real Madrid's head coach should he win Sunday's election.

The announcement comes shortly after Riquelme's high-profile pledge regarding Erling Haaland and forms part of a wider sporting project led by Raúl González Blanco, who would serve as sporting director under the proposed structure. According to the campaign, Klopp has not objected to the proposal being made public and has approved the statement released by the candidacy.

The campaign revealed its decision in an official statement published in both Spanish and English, describing Klopp as the coach capable of restoring to Real Madrid "the competitive intensity, the daily demands, the professionalism, the meritocracy, the unity of the dressing room, and the dedication to a job well done that always characterized the great eras of our history."

The statement concludes: "That coach is Jürgen Klopp."

Riquelme's team also acknowledged the main challenge surrounding any potential appointment. Klopp has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to return to coaching in the immediate future and has reportedly turned down several opportunities.

However, the campaign believes Real Madrid represents a unique challenge.

"Precisely for that reason we believe that the challenge of Real Madrid is different. Because there are great clubs, but there is only one Real Madrid."

The statement emphasizes that the choice was made by Raúl González Blanco, who would oversee sporting matters as director of football.

"Raúl is already working with enormous intensity on building the sporting project that should define the next decade of the club, with the youth academy as one of its fundamental pillars."
