Former Brazilian football star Kaká has no doubts about what’s expected of Real Madrid in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off next week in the United States. Having spent four seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu, the ex-midfielder made it clear: “For Real Madrid, there is no other option than to win.”
In a statement released by FIFA, Kaká emphasized the relentless expectations placed on Los Blancos: “All eyes are on Real Madrid. Every time they enter a tournament, the goal is to reach the final and win it.”
Kaká, who lifted the Club World Cup in 2007 with AC Milan after beating Boca Juniors, expressed his continued affection for the Madrid club. A product of São Paulo’s youth academy, he declared himself a fan of Real Madrid and said he’ll be cheering them on in the tournament.
This new edition of the Club World Cup features four Brazilian teams—Flamengo, Fluminense, Botafogo, and Palmeiras—but Kaká’s heart is firmly with Madrid. “I hope they can go far, reach the final, and of course, make history once again by winning this first edition under the new format,” he said.
