The Casillas name will soon disappear from Real Madrid's youth academy. According to OKDiario, Martín and Lucas, the sons of former club captain Iker Casillas, will leave the Madrid academy at the end of the season. The decision was made by their father together with the two boys, aged 12 and 10, who have been training at Valdebebas since the pre-Benjamín category. The club has already been informed, and their departure is now only a matter of time. Both youngsters want a change of scenery and the opportunity to gain a different experience away from the club where their father became a legend, winning three European Cups and numerous other trophies.

Like their father, both boys play as goalkeepers. Martín currently represents the Under-14 B team, while Lucas plays for the Under-12 B side. Following in the footsteps of one of the greatest goalkeepers in Real Madrid's history is no easy task. Their mother, Sara Carbonero, recently admitted that watching them play is difficult for her because, in that position, conceded goals tend to be remembered more than saves. Iker has also consistently insisted that his sons should enjoy football without feeling any pressure to follow his career path. With that philosophy in mind, the family believes it is time for them to start a new chapter.

Their departure does not mean the family is turning its back on Real Madrid. Casillas remains closely connected to the club and regularly takes part in legends matches. His priority is for his sons to develop both as footballers and as individuals, enjoying their freedom away from the expectations that come with carrying one of the most famous surnames in Real Madrid's history.
