Dean Huijsen has announced via social media that he will wear the historic No. 4 shirt at Real Madrid next season.

The defender described the decision as the fulfillment of a childhood dream, with the number closely linked to his childhood idol, Sergio Ramos. The former Real Madrid captain was the last great player to wear the No. 4 shirt at the club, and Huijsen recalled wearing Ramos’ boots, the famous SR4s, as a child while trying to emulate the Real Madrid and Spain legend.

Ramos himself responded to Huijsen’s post and wished him the best of luck. "I hope it brings you a lot of joy too."

In his message, the Spanish-Dutch defender also paid tribute to another legendary No. 4, Fernando Hierro. Huijsen highlighted their shared origins as a special connection, explaining that inheriting the number feels even more meaningful because of it.

Huijsen also reflected on the more recent history of the shirt, mentioning David Alaba, who wore the No. 4 before him. Having shared the dressing room with the Austrian, Huijsen praised his professionalism, leadership and constant willingness to help his teammates, qualities that defined Alaba’s time at Real Madrid.
