The Madrid City Council's Governing Board has given initial approval to the modification of the General Urban Development Plan for the land where the Madrid Innovation District (MID) will be built. The ambitious technology and innovation campus will cover 120 hectares in Valdebebas, adjacent to Real Madrid City.

Under the project, the City Council will receive more than 200,000 square meters of land free of charge. Around 166,000 square meters will be dedicated to expanding the Metropolitan Forest and creating a new linear park alongside the Arroyo de la Plata, while another 35,000 square meters will be reserved for a public facility focused on innovation and technology.

The development will offer 532,550 square meters of buildable space, bringing together technology companies, research centers, educational institutions, and service providers with the goal of establishing Madrid as a leading international hub for innovation.

The Madrid Innovation District, promoted by Real Madrid, was officially unveiled in May 2025 during an event held at Real Madrid City. The project's vision is to attract the headquarters of major global technology and development companies while fostering collaboration between businesses, researchers, and entrepreneurs to create an ecosystem that drives innovation, knowledge sharing, and economic growth.
