Jesús Gil Manzano has been appointed to officiate the La Liga match between Real Sociedad and Real Madrid, corresponding to the fourth matchday of the Primera División this Saturday, September 13. The Technical Committee of Referees confirmed the full list of officials, with Jorge Figueroa Vázquez overseeing VAR duties.
The Extremadura-born referee is well known to Los Blancos, having officiated them 53 times, resulting in 41 victories, 6 draws, and 6 defeats. He is also remembered for disallowing Jude Bellingham’s goal at Mestalla and awarding three penalties against Real Madrid in a match at Valencia.
This will be the first time Gil Manzano takes charge of Xabi Alonso’s team this season. His most recent assignment with the league leaders came on Matchday 34 of the 2024-25 season, when Real Madrid faced Celta de Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu.
