Usman Garuba's return to action for Real Madrid will be delayed due to a stress fracture in his left foot. The center, who rejoined the team this summer after three seasons in the NBA, is expected to rest for around six weeks. As a result, Garuba will miss several key games, including the Supercopa in Murcia next week, where Real Madrid will face Barça on September 21. He also sat out of Real Madrid’s preseason opener, an 83-67 victory over Benfica, and will not feature in upcoming matches against AS Monaco in Pontevedra and Varese in Menorca.
With Garuba sidelined, Real Madrid’s inside game is impacted, as Edy Tavares remains the only pure center available, along with Eli Ndiaye and Serge Ibaka. The club may consider entering the transfer market, or players like Gaby Deck and Mario Hezonja might need to step in at the power forward position. The team is hopeful Garuba will be fit in time for the start of the Euroleague on October 3 in Munich.
