FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has extended worldwide the six-match suspension imposed by UEFA on Gianluca Prestianni for discriminatory conduct during a Champions League match against Real Madrid.
UEFA issued the sanction at the end of April following an incident on February 17, during the first leg of the round of 32, when the Benfica player covered his mouth while speaking to Vinícius Júnior. The Real Madrid forward reported to the referee that he had been called a "monkey".
FIFA confirmed that the worldwide extension of the suspension was carried out at UEFA’s request and in accordance with article 70 of its Disciplinary Code.
