A court in Alcobendas, Madrid, has ordered Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy to stand trial over an incident in January 2023 in which one of his dogs allegedly attacked two other dogs and injured a 17-year-old.
According to EFE, Mendy has been charged with a minor assault offense after four of his dogs reportedly escaped from a property. Prosecutors are seeking a fine of €1,200.
Meanwhile, the private prosecution, representing the injured teenager through the law firm 99 Abogados, is requesting a six-month prison sentence for an alleged serious negligent assault. The teenager reportedly suffered a bite wound to his left leg during the incident.
EFE reports that the investigating judge in Alcobendas issued the order to proceed to trial on January 7 and set bail at €7,410 to cover potential compensation claims.
The case will be heard by Madrid Criminal Court No. 26, although a date for the trial has not yet been scheduled, according to legal sources cited by EFE.
