Michael Olise is currently with the France national team training camp as he prepares for the upcoming departure to the United States on the 10th, amid growing speculation over his future following Florentino Pérez’s announcement of a €150 million bid for a Champions League player outside the Premier League.
All indications continue to point toward the Bayern Munich winger as the potential target of Real Madrid’s proposed move.
France coach Didier Didier Deschamps addressed Olise’s situation in an interview with MARCA, highlighting the player’s development and rising status in European football while stressing that transfer matters are beyond his control.
Deschamps explained why top clubs are increasingly interested in the winger.
"I had seen him before Thierry Henry selected him for the Olympic Games, where he did some very, very good things. With us, it was a bit difficult, laborious at the beginning. He's coming off an excellent season in terms of effectiveness, with his character and personality. He's rather discreet, a little shy, but when he's on the field, he's magnificent," he said.
"I'm very happy for him, but the credit is mostly his. Today he's a shining star and among the best players in the world, but media exposure isn't really his thing, as they say. What matters is what happens on the pitch; afterwards, he has his own life, but he's had a magnificent rise," he added.
The France coach also suggested that Olise will make the right decision regarding his future.
"He'll know very well whether he stays at Bayern Munich or if he needs a change of scenery. There's no right or wrong choice. Obviously, if I were in Kompany's or the Bayern president's shoes, having him on the team and him staying at Bayern would be very, very good. I imagine he might also receive offers from other clubs. I'm not worried about him replicating what he does with Bayern or what he does with the French national team at other clubs. But if I say that, it doesn't benefit Bayern," he concluded.
