Raúl Asencio has not featured for Real Madrid since the match against Celta Vigo at Balaídos Stadium on March 6th, despite previously being a key figure amid defensive injuries.
The Canary Islander had stepped up when players like Éder Militão and David Alaba were unavailable, even playing through pain — including a cervical contusion suffered against Benfica and earlier in the season with a fractured tibia.
However, his situation has taken a dramatic turn under Álvaro Arbeloa. According to reports, Asencio was unhappy after not featuring against Manchester City and confronted the coach. Tensions escalated further when he withdrew late from the match against Elche due to minor discomfort, forcing changes in defense and frustrating the staff.
Since then, despite continuing to train normally at Valdebebas, the defender has been left out of the team. The coach, known for his strict stance on discipline and commitment, is reportedly waiting for a public apology in front of teammates before reconsidering his position.
For now, the academy graduate remains out of favor, and his return will depend on how the situation evolves in the coming weeks.
