Iker Casillas spoke at a LaLiga event ahead of this weekend’s El Clásico, addressing both the reported altercation between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, as well as speculation surrounding the Real Madrid bench.

The former Real Madrid captain attempted to downplay the recent dressing room tensions. “Everything has a solution; these things happen in a locker room, even in our time.”

He also reflected on the club’s current situation following a disappointing season. “It happens at a time when you're angry. Everything is cyclical. Just as there are periods of success, like Real Madrid has had in previous seasons, now it's time to go through a more difficult period.”

Regarding El Clásico against Barcelona, Casillas admitted that the team’s objective should be to delay the title celebrations. “If I were part of that dressing room, I would try to spoil the party and delay the title celebration for at least another week.”

Asked about the possibility of a managerial change, Casillas made his preference clear. “I would sign Xabi Alonso again; he was the ideal coach for Real Madrid.”

The former goalkeeper also pointed to the unpredictability of football decisions. “When decisions are made, things don't always go well. You also have to analyze, for example, when the decision was made to dismiss Rafa Benítez, and then how everything turned out. It's the day-to-day results that ultimately determine what happens in football.”

Casillas was also questioned about the possibility of José Mourinho returning to Real Madrid, but chose not to expand on the topic. “I don't care if you ask me about Mourinho.”
