Carlos Espí will have to wait for his Spain debut after being left out of the 23-man squad for the match against the Czech Republic in Oviedo. The Real Madrid forward, who was called up as an emergency replacement for the injured Ferran Torres, is also expected to miss Spain's upcoming match against Croatia in Split.
After scoring five of Spain's 13 goals against San Marino, Espí earned a promotion from David Gordo's squad to Luis de la Fuente's senior team. However, he is not expected to feature in Spain's upcoming match against Romania in Ibiza or make his senior debut during the international break.
De la Fuente has instead opted to continue with Espanyol striker Roberto, who made his debut against the Czech Republic after being part of the senior squad throughout the international break.
