Eduardo Camavinga spoke with ESPN from the France national team training camp in the United States, sharing his thoughts on Real Madrid’s season, coach Álvaro Arbeloa, and teammate Vinícius Júnior.

Camavinga praised Arbeloa’s approach to managing the squad, highlighting the relaxed environment he tries to create around the team.

“Arbeloa has the same spirit as Carlo Ancelotti. He gives us a lot of freedom and talks to the players,” the French midfielder explained.

He even shared an unusual detail about the coach’s routine. “Sometimes he comes with gifts after training… donuts, Speculoos, Oreos.” According to Camavinga, this approach helps keep the squad happy and performing well. “You just have to make these kinds of players happy. When you're happy, your feet do what they want.”

When asked about Vinicius, Camavinga was quick to defend his teammate’s character.

“People don’t realize it. He’s a very good person,” he said, adding that the Brazilian’s public image often doesn’t reflect who he really is. “He’s very emotional. People see him shout and think he’s a problem, but they don’t know him.”

The midfielder also revealed how Vinicius supports younger players. “He always helps the younger players. When a new player arrives, he’s the first to approach him.”

Camavinga also addressed the criticism surrounding Vinicius’ celebrations. “In Europe, they don’t understand that. In Brazil or the United States, it’s normal. It’s football, it’s a game.”

Reflecting on Madrid’s season, the Frenchman admitted the team had a slow start but believes performances have improved.

“We started a bit slowly, but now we're improving,” he said, also highlighting the evolution of the midfield after the era of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Casemiro. “We’re not like them. We have more power and speed. Football has changed too.”

Camavinga acknowledged that the team is still adapting after several changes in the squad. “Many players have left and others have arrived. We have to build a new team.”

Speaking about the Champions League, he admitted the team seems to transform when the competition begins. “I don’t know what it is. We hear the music and something changes.”

He also reflected on lessons learned after facing Manchester City. “We understood that we could defend together, suffer, and then attack to finish off the opponent.”

The midfielder emphasized the club’s demanding mentality. “At Real Madrid, you have to win everything. It’s the bare minimum.”

Finally, Camavinga spoke about his personal ambitions moving forward. “I want to be more consistent, to play more.”
