Real Madrid could be involved in another transfer saga this summer, with reports linking Álvaro Carreras to a potential move to Chelsea.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, the Spanish full-back has been added to Chelsea's shortlist as the Premier League club evaluates possible reinforcements. At this stage, the interest is described as exploratory, with Chelsea seeking information regarding the player's availability and a potential transfer fee.

The move would reunite Carreras with Xabi Alonso, who reportedly knows the player well and appreciates his profile. The defender is also familiar with English football, having left Real Madrid's academy to join Manchester United's U23 side before spending the 2022-23 season on loan at Preston North End in the Championship.

Carreras is still awaiting clarity regarding his role at Real Madrid, although reports suggest the club does not consider him untouchable. While he is viewed as José Mourinho's preferred option to compete with Marc Cucurella at left-back, Fran García is also capable of filling that role and remains part of the equation.

The report adds that Carreras faces an important summer after an inconsistent first season at the Santiago Bernabéu. With Cucurella now expected to be the first-choice left-back, the Spaniard could find himself in a backup role or potentially consider a move elsewhere.

Real Madrid are reportedly open to evaluating offers as they continue shaping the squad, particularly given the significant investment made to sign Carreras less than a year ago.
