Real Madrid continue to work on reinforcing their defensive line, with the club still targeting a new centre-back despite recent additions, including the arrival of Ibrahima Konaté.

According to reports from ‘Látigo’ Serrano, José Mourinho has already identified his preferred option for the position, with Alessandro Bastoni emerging as his top choice for the role. The new Real Madrid manager is said to have significant influence over transfer decisions, which places the Italian defender at the centre of the club’s plans.

Other previously considered options, such as Josko Gvardiol and Riccardo Calafiori, have reportedly moved down the priority list following the signing of Marc Cucurella, which has reshaped Real Madrid’s defensive planning and reduced the need for similar profiles.

As a result, the club’s shortlist now reportedly includes Nico Schlotterbeck, Rúben Dias and Alessandro Bastoni. Among these candidates, Bastoni is said to be the leading option, with Mourinho favouring him over the rest.

Real Madrid’s priority remains strengthening the defence further this summer. Bastoni’s future at Inter Milan has been the subject of ongoing speculation, and although his contract runs until 2028, a potential agreement could still be reached if the right conditions are met.
