Real Madrid has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold has suffered a muscle injury that will sideline him for six to eight weeks. According to the club’s medical statement: “Following the tests carried out today on our player Trent Alexander-Arnold by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the hamstring of his left leg. His recovery progress is pending.”

The English full-back was forced off just three minutes into the match, replaced by Dani Carvajal. It’s a frustrating setback for Alexander-Arnold, who had yet to find his best rhythm in Madrid. He took to social media to reassure fans: “I’ll be back as soon as possible and stronger than before. See you soon, Real Madrid fans.”

His absence is another blow for the team, coming only days after Antonio Rüdiger’s injury. Madrid is also awaiting confirmation of Carvajal’s suspension, with indications suggesting he could miss the next two Champions League games. That leaves coach Xabi Alonso short on options at right-back.

Against Marseille, Alonso used Asencio in the final stages, but he hinted at tactical flexibility going forward: “We’ll have to be imaginative,” he said, acknowledging the possibility of experimenting with a three-man defense in upcoming fixtures against Kairat and Juventus.
