David Alaba received an emotional farewell at the Santiago Bernabéu during his final match as a Real Madrid player.

The Austrian defender, who won 11 titles with the club, was honored by teammates and supporters in a tribute filled with emotion. In the 69th minute, the stadium rose to applaud Alaba as he was substituted by Huijsen.

The defender left the pitch embracing his teammates while fans in the south stand recreated his famous chair celebration from Real Madrid’s comeback victory against PSG in the 2021/22 Champions League.

Once on the bench, Alaba shared an emotional moment with his family before the tribute continued after the match with a video shown on the stadium screens.

Visibly moved, the defender later addressed the supporters from the center circle.

“I haven’t prepared much, so I’ll keep it short. I’m shy, but thank you so much for everything. Seriously, thank you so much for everything. I’ve really enjoyed these five years with you all. Thank you for your affection and support. We’ve had many successes together. Especially thank you for a very difficult time in my career with my knee injury. But you were always there for me, and for that, thank you so much. Truly, thank you to the club and to all of you, who will always be in my heart. Let’s celebrate a legend and an incredible person. Dani Carvajal!”

The Bernabéu responded with another ovation as Alaba concluded his farewell speech alongside his teammates and family.
