Dani Carvajal received an emotional farewell at the Santiago Bernabéu during what was his final match at Real Madrid’s stadium.

The captain was honored by teammates and supporters in recognition of an extraordinary career at the club. Carvajal leaves as one of only five players in football history to have won six European Cups.

The tribute reached its most emotional moment in the 82nd minute when the Bernabéu rose to its feet as Carvajal was substituted for Manu Serrano. The match briefly stopped while players from both Real Madrid and Athletic Club formed a guard of honor for the defender before he embraced his family on the bench.

After the final whistle, the ceremony continued with a tribute video shown on the stadium screens before Carvajal addressed the supporters from the center circle.

“Good evening, Madrid fans. It's not an easy moment for me to speak because I'm very moved by this great send-off you're giving me. First of all, I want to thank our president, Florentino Pérez. He's the one who brought me back from Germany. I grew up with him, and we've won so many Champions Leagues together, but if I have to choose one thing, it's that not even 24 hours after a serious knee injury on that sideline, he didn't hesitate to extend my contract. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“Afterwards, I wanted to thank all my teammates, the current Real Madrid players. We haven't had two easy seasons, but I'm sure we'll win again. This is Real Madrid, and we have to get back up, as our history says. I can't help but remember this golden era we've lived through. With my departure today, we bring to a close a wonderful era, an era of four Champions League titles in five years. That Décima, three consecutive Champions Leagues. Those Casillas, Cristiano, Ramos, Ancelotti, Zidane… Countless names who have proudly worn this badge, and I'm just going to ask you to give them a big round of applause because they made us great and took us to the top.”

“I want to continue thanking my parents and my sister for making such a huge effort when I was a child. For taking me to training, to matches in the cold, rain, and snow… You have always been there and have done your part to make my dream come true. Thank you. And also to my wife and children. I have lived through two very difficult years, I have experienced the bitter side of this sport, and you have been my driving force. You have filled my sad days with light and given me the strength to get up time and time again. I love you all very much.”

“Finally, thank you all. You are wonderful. From my first day until today, until the very last, you have carried us on your shoulders. What you experience in this stadium cannot be described; you simply have to feel it. You have supported me since the day I arrived. Just seeing this farewell makes me incredibly proud to be a Madrid fan. Thank you for the impossible comebacks, for being here through thick and thin. Some players' careers are defined by their successes, but others are defined by how many people they resonate with. I only want you to remember me tomorrow with pride and with the certainty that I gave everything for this shirt. Yesterday, today, and always. Hala Madrid!”

The farewell ended with Carvajal and David Alaba being lifted into the air by their teammates before the defender completed an emotional lap of honor around the Bernabéu alongside his family and teammates.
