That night proved highly controversial. Three Real Madrid players were sent off: Fran García and Carreras during the match, and Endrick, who was on the bench. The decisions sparked widespread frustration within the squad and coaching staff.
Following the match, the club’s official television channel strongly criticized the referee’s performance, referencing the Negreira case in its post-match analysis and questioning the official’s standards.
For the upcoming fixture, Jorge Figueroa Vázquez will oversee VAR duties as Madrid return to El Sadar hoping to avoid a repeat of the Bernabéu controversy.
